Honda unveil new CBR 300R LAMS sports bike
Built on the same platform as the popular CBR 250R, Honda have upped the stroke of the CBR's single-cylinder four-stroke, with the capacity increase to 286cc producing more power and greatly-improved acceleration, but still within LAMS limits.
The PGM fuel injection has been remapped with a focus on crisp throttle response across the rev range and a new CBR500R-inspired muffler design with larger internal volume adds big-bore style and a strong exhaust note. To suit the increased engine capacity, the six-speed gearbox's final drive ratio has been lengthened for more efficient highway speed cruising.
A steel diamond twin-spar frame provides the backbone of the CBR 300R's chassis, tuned for a sporty feel in corners and stability at speed. Telescopic forks and Pro-Link rear monoshock provide well-damped, reactive suspension that transmits plenty of feel to the rider.
Taking its styling cues directly from the championship-winning CBR 1000RR, the CBR 300RR presents an angular silhouette. Matching the aggressively-styled full fairing is a colour-matched undercowl, dual headlights and steeply raked rear seat unit
A re-shaped seat on the new model complements the lines, and also alters the riding position to improve ground reach.
Disc brakes front and rear feature Nissin calipers (2-piston front, single-piston rear), with lightweight Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) available as an option.
Two colours will be available on launch; Gunpowder Black Metallic and Millennium Red.
Release dates and pricing will follow in the coming months, with local availability expected in first half of 2014. Honda Australia say that the CBR 300R will enter the Australian market at an incredibly competitive price.
