Taking the Pink Way Round
Taking on the ride of their lives, Brisbane bikers Andrew Treloar and Glenn Bliesner are set to blaze a trail of pink ribbons across multiple continents - all in the name of charity. Dubbed The Pink Way Round, the motorcycling challenge will take place in April 2011 and aims to raise money for breast cancer victims and their families. The Pink Way Round will take the riders from London to Singapore through 18 countries, 12 time zones, 56 cities, across two continents, travelling nearly 20,000km over 90 days.
"Our intention is to tie a pink ribbon around every major public landmark that we pass to symbolise hope and support for breast cancer victims. It's our little way of saying you are not alone and you are never forgotten," said Andrew.
The Pink Way was established by the riders in May this year as a charitable trust to raise money for recognised Australian charities assisting breast cancer victims and their families.
"I recently watched my Sister_in_law go through the fight against breast cancer and the wife of one of my best mates at work. I watched how devastating breast cancer can be to a family and saw how important support networks and the breast care nurses were in helping them get through," said Andrew.
Organisations like the Kim Walters Choice Program and the McGrath Foundation will be beneficiaries of funds raised through donations and corporate sponsorship of the ride, enabling the funding of more breast care nurses for a number of years.
"We already have Honda MPE, RideWorx Australia, Motorcycle Adventure Products, Pro Motorcycles K2Basecamp, MakeWay Constructions Pty Ltd, Arup, Kell & Rigby and KWA Blinds on board as corporate sponsors, but we really need more sponsors and donations to reach our target of $500,000," explained Andrew. "My employer, RSL Care, and my work colleagues are also supporting me in this venture," he said.
The Pink Way are also planning a number of fundraising events to help raise awareness of the issues and to achieve the donation target of $500,000. Check out their website at www.thepinkwayround.com.au for details.
For information about becoming a corporate sponsor, please call Andrew Treloar on 0404 032 970. Tax deductible donations of $2 or more can be made through their website www.thepinkwayround.com.au - it all counts so get on board and support this important cause!
