Carrasco makes switch to World Supersport for 2025
After winning the inaugural Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) this year, Ana Carrasco will not be defending her title in 2025. Instead, the 27-year-old will race in the World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP) as part of an all-new, two-rider team backed by Honda France and using Honda’s CBR600RR.
Carrasco’s team mate will be Corentin Perolari, who will race the entire WorldSSP season. Carrasco will only be competing in European rounds of the 2025 championship that form the ‘Supersport Challenge’.
Perolari’s WorldSSP experience includes a one-round entry this season, but the Frenchman’s last full-time ride in the championship was back in 2020. Carrasco has never raced in WorldSSP, but spent five seasons in WorldSSP300 and won that championship in 2018.
“I am very happy to join Honda in this new project” Carrasco said. “Honda is the biggest motorcycle factory in the world, and it is an honour for me to race with these colours. I want to learn as fast as possible during the season and fight for good results. I look forward to work with the team and to ride the bike for the first time.
“I want to thank HRC, Honda Europe and Honda France for trusting in me and giving me this opportunity. I will give my best to achieve our goals.”
At this year’s WorldSSP round at Magny Cours, Perolari entered as a wildcard for CBO Racing Honda France, achieving seventh and twentieth place finishes. To date, the 26-year-old Frenchman’s best race result in WorldSSP has been third, achieved at Phillip Island in 2020, with a best championship placing of eighth in 2019.
“I’m delighted to be in the World Supersport Championship, especially representing the Honda brand, which I’m very fond of,” Perolari said. “The whole team can count on me to give my best in every race.
“The initial tests will allow us to take our marks with the team. After that, the aim is to perform as we did during the wildcard at Magny-Cours last September, but over a full season. Consistently being in the Top 10 would be fantastic.”
Bruno Skotnicki, head of competition for Honda France, added: “Honda is setting up a programme over several years. As we announced last September, the aim of this wildcard was to score points and make an impression.
“Run by Honda's racing department, HRC, the aim is to represent Honda at the highest level in this category. Honda wants to improve the bike, the riders and the staff. As with the Magny-Cours round, our aim will be to provide the best possible equipment so that riders can regularly finish in the Top 10.”
The 2025 WorldSSP season commences at Phillip Island on 21-23 February, along the World Superbikes. Carrasco’s first ride in the Supersport Challenge will be at the Portuguese WorldSSP round in Portimao on 28-30 March.
