Royal Enfield adds ‘Sleet’ to Himalayan
As a third colour option for the adventure tourer (joining the already available Granite and Snow), the new-for-2018 Sleet colour scheme is said to be inspired by the “shades of the Himalayan mountain range – from peak, summit and to the deep valleys below”.
Translated, that means a mid-grey colour scheme for the tank and mudguards, with asymmetrical patches of white and darker grey. The look has a touch of urban camouflage, or even World War I dazzle ships to it, and certainly stands out.
The Sleet combines its unique colour scheme with a black finish for the top and bottom fork triple clamp, handlebar ends and fuel cap.
Mechanical spec is unchanged from the standard model, which means the ‘Longstroke LS410’ 411cc air-cooled 4-stroke single with carb induction and electric start, a 5-speed transmission, split-cradle frame, 41mm forks and rear monoshock, a 300mm front brake disc, 240mm rear disc, 800mm seat height, 220mm ground clearance and 182kg kerb weight.
New for 2018 are standard Pirelli MT60 tyres on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, which has been applied to the rest of the LAMS-legal Himalayan lineup. The Himalayan Sleet’s rideaway price of $6,990 includes 24 months warranty and a 24-month customer care program.
The aluminium hard panniers pictured are extra-cost options from the Royal Enfield accessory range that also includes crash bars, tank bags, jerry cans and soft luggage. See your Royal Enfield dealer for further details.
