Oli Bayliss switches to Triumph for 2025 World Supersport season
After three years on a Ducati in the FIM Supersport World Championship, Oli Bayliss will be on a Triumph in 2025. The son of three-time World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss, Oli replaces Ondrej Vostatek at PTR Triumph Factory Racing this season. The 21-year-old Aussie will share the PTR garage with 2021 World Supersport300 Championship runner-up, Tom Booth-Amos, who joined the British team last year.
Although he hasn’t raced a Triumph before, Bayliss enters the 2025 World Supersport season with some familiarity of the Street Triple 765 and PTR, having tested for the team at Jerez last October. In that test, Bayliss’s pace was described as being close to that of Booth-Amos and very close to his qualifying performance at the circuit on a Ducati Panigale V2.
“Super excited to continue my World Supersport journey in 2025 with PTR Triumph,” Bayliss said after the deal was confirmed in December. “In Jerez, I felt good on the bike and gelled well with the team.
“Need to say a big thank you to Darrell Healey and GSE for their continuous support over the years and also to Simon Buckmaster for giving me this opportunity. I think we can have a good season and achieve some goals.”
Bayliss made his World Supersport debut with Barni Spark Racing Team in 2022, then joined D34G Racing WorldSSP Team in 2023. To date, the Aussie’s best race result has been fifth, achieved at Phillip Island in 2024. His best championship placing of 14th came in the same year.
Booth-Amos also made his WorldSSP debut in 2022, spending his first two seasons on a Kawasaki ZX-6R. In 2024, the Brit joined PTR Triumph Factory Racing, with whom he achieved his first podium in the category – a third at Cremona – and several Top10 placings to finish 10th in the championship.
“It’s great news we have been able to finalise the deal with Oli Bayliss,” said PTR Triumph Factory Racing’s Manager, Simon Buckmaster. “It’s fantastic for us as a team to have two strong riders working together, data wise, and bringing both of them on.”
The opening World Supersport round for 2025 takes place at Phillip Island on 21-23 February, supporting the World Superbike Championship. Go to: worldsbk.com.au for ticketing information and further details.
