MV Agusta America coming
The third such revival of a model name that first appeared on an MV Agusta in 1975, this latest version follows the previous F4 750 Brutale-based limited-edition upgrade kit from 2005 and, more recently, a special edition Brutale in 2012.
The new America is essentially the same as the US market version released last year that was limited to just 50 units – one for each state of the union.
The 2018 version that’s coming to Australia benefits from the latest Brutale upgrades, including a new balance shaft, new valves and redesigned intake and exhaust cams on the engine, as well as upgraded electronic controls with new algorithms and engine mapping.
The 798cc liquid-cooled triple is now attached to the frame for improved rigidity, the Traction Control has been recalibrated and there’s a completely new gearbox claiming smoother, more precise meshing.
Despite the “America” name, the styling and colours – particularly the red, white and blue colour scheme - are actually closer to the 750 Sport; a model that preceded the original America and is one of the most sought after classic MV Agusta models.
Styling alterations that define this numbered Special Edition include a metallic blue colour scheme for the fuel tank and seat unit, while the main frame is red and the guards and selected other parts are finished in gloss black.
The tank sports the MV Agusta multi-star logo representing their 37 world championships, while identifying "America Special Edition" branding is subtly incorporated into the radiator side panels.
Another nod to the 750 Sport is the red saddle, which is upholstered in a combination of leather and grippy synthetic material, features comfort-enhancing padding and gilt stitching.
Each Brutale 800 RR America is individually numbered, identified by a badge on the instrument cluster fairing and the certificate of authenticity delivered to each new owner.
The special edition Brutale 800 RR America is now available to order through your local MV Agusta dealership. Pricing has not been revealed, but expect to pay around $25,000.
