Meet the JUST AUTO LEGENDS 2012 Winner

While the rest of the inaugural JUST AUTO LEGENDS club members are worthy inclusions, Dave's passion for all things automotive clearly put him above the rest. A journey through Dave's Coober Pedy address shows how automotive pervades every aspect of his daily life. If the guy was any more auto-oriented, he'd have 20W-50 running through his veins!

Everywhere you look in Dave's "Man Cave", whether it's above ground or beneath it, there's something to make your jaw drop, your eyebrows raise, or just put a smile on your face. The classic Chev pickup, demo derby Ford and vintage car shell adorning the "garden" are among 30 vehicles scattered around the premises, but that's just the start.

On your way underground, you'll notice the tail end of an XC Falcon that houses Dave's barbeque. Ring the V8-engine doorbell, then step inside and you'll see tailshafts used as handrails for the staircase, a traffic light to illuminate the bar area, bumper bars as footrails, and a 351 V8 heater to keep the cave cosy on those cold desert nights.

Photos of Dave's past and present cars and bikes fight for wall space with garagenalia, hubcaps, grilles, rocker covers and posters of V8 Supercar stars. Betraying Dave's allegiance, most of these are Ford drivers! Alongside the bar is a workshop area occupied by Dave's current project, a1926 Chevrolet. More car parts and even a scooter fill the corridors, but as Dave explained, the beauty of his auto-themed address is that if he runs out of room, he just digs out some more!
