Continental ContiAttack SM 2 – the supermoto tyre with more

Whether you’re on the road or the track, you want the ride to last as long as possible. Continental’s ContiAttack SM 2 lets you do just that. A supermoto tyre that’s racetrack-proven but also road legal, the ContiAttack SM 2 is now available.

Factory-fitted to KTM’s 690 SMC-R and Husqvarna’s 701 SM supermoto bikes, the ContiAttack SM 2 tyre is made in Germany and available in a range of 17-inch front and rear sizes.

To create the SM 2, Continental took what they had developed with the ContiAttack SM EVO and added improvements in key areas.

Made for High Performance

The carcass is based on Continental’s racing slicks and is the sportiest they’ve applied to a road tyre. The result is exceptional handling and performance, making the ContiAttack SM 2 ideal for track days and circuit work.

To the carcass, Contentintal adds their ‘BlackChili’ rubber compound that offers improved grip - in both the wet and dry. On the track, this translates to lap times that are 1.17 seconds (dry) and 2.7 seconds (wet) faster than the SM EVO. The compound reaches optimum temperature faster, too, so less time is needed to warm the tyres up.

Additionally, BlackChili provides optimum stability and damping, making it ideal for the extreme braking and acceleration that serious supermoto riders subject their tyres to. 

In terms of turn-in forces, the ContiAttack SM 2 concedes a little to the ContiAttack SM EVO, but turn-in behaviour is improved, thanks to ‘GripLimitFeedback’ technology. This ensures maximum traction at high lean angles, allowing riders to further maximise on-track performance. Of course, improved edge grip also means improved safety. 

Made for the Road

For all its benefits on the track, the bigger benefit with the ContiAttack SM 2 is on the street, as this road-legal tyre offers improved longevity.

Compared to the ContiAttack SM EVO, the ContiAttack SM 2 improves front tyre mileage by 28 per cent and rear tyre mileage by 16 per cent. This is a significant increase and comes thanks to the SM 2’s increased tread depth.

Additionally, increases in front and rear comfort (approximately 5 per cent) make the SM 2 easier to live with - for the daily commute and longer rides alike - which is what you want in a road-legal tyre.
