FEATURE – 2022 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty
First offered for 2020 to mark the original Scout’s debut a century earlier in 1920, the Scout Bobber Twenty is based heavily on the Scout Bobber, but adds a few retro styling features that gives it its own look and style.
Instead of the old-school sprung solo saddle used previously, the Scout Bobber Twenty now runs the same low-profile seat as the Scout Bobber, which means seat height has dropped from 695mm to 649mm.
Other features shared with the Scout Bobber include the reduced rear suspension travel, bobbed front and rear mudguards, engine detailing, headlight nacelle and blackout treatment – all of which are unchanged from the 2021 model.
Where the Scout Bobber differs is in the adoption of wire spoke wheels and mini ape hanger handlebars, as well as a large Indian head decal on the tank instead of a badge.
Despite the MY22 Scout Bobber Twenty losing its old-school saddle, the bars and wheels maintain this model’s heritage look. Bar-end mirrors remain and the wheels are still shod with Pirelli MT60RS tyres, as per the Scout Bobber.
Those bars and wheels contribute to an 8kg increase in weight compared to the Scout Bobber. But at 251kg dry, the Scout Bobber Twenty is still 4kg lighter than the base Scout.
For 2022, trimming of the Scout Bobber Twenty’s colour palette has seen Thunder Black Smoke and Sagebrush Smoke removed, with Stealth Grey remaining and Thunder Black rebranded as Black metallic. An all-new colour option for 2022 is Silver Quartz Smoke, which is a pale gold satin finish that’s also available on the base Scout.
All colours feature a large Indian head tank decal (in black or grey depending on paint colour), with a black headlight nacelle (in gloss or satin) and black rims across the board.
