2020 Indian Scout released
The upcoming year will mark the centenary of Indian’s Scout model and Indian Motorcycle are celebrating with a pair of special edition models inspired by the 1920 original.
Scout 100th Anniversary
Limited to 750 units globally, the ‘Scout 100th Anniversary’ runs the same 1133cc v-twin engine, 6-speed transmission, suspension, ABS brakes and cycle parts as the current Scout, but adds styling features inspired by the original. These include a genuine leather solo saddle in Desert Tan, wire spoke wheels with black rims, a chrome luggage rack, chromed headlight shell, chromed exhaust pipes and selected chrome engine parts, as well as ‘beach bar’ handlebars that feature a crossbrace and slightly different spread than the standard Scout bars.
Finished exclusively in Indian Motorcycle Red with Anniversary Gold coachlines that extend to the wheels, the Scout 100th Anniversary also features an unique engine badge and old-school tank decal.
The limited-edition Scout 100th Anniversary is priced from $22,995 – a premium of up to $3,000 on the regular Scout for 2020. Total allocation for Australia has not been confirmed.
Scout Bobber Twenty
Like the Scout 100th Anniversary, the Scout Bobber Twenty adds styling touches inspired by the original, but retains its signature bobber look and features.
Identifying features include wire spoke wheels on black 16-inch rims, special tyres, selective chrome detailing on the engine and exhaust, a solo saddle and 10-inch ape hanger bars for a more neutral riding position than the regular Scout Bobber.
Mechanical spec is unaltered, with the standard 97Nm 1133cc v-twin, 6-speed transmission, 298mm brake rotors at each end and lowered rear suspension.
Available in a choice of three colours – Burnished Metallic (burgundy), Sagebrush Smoke (metallic green) and Thunder Black - the Scout Bobber Twenty is not limited in numbers and arrives with a ride away price from $21,995 - a $2,000 premium over the ride away price of the regular Scout Bobber.
New Standard Features, More Accessories
Common to all Scouts and Scout Bobbers for 2020 are Pirelli MT60RS tyres, floating brake rotors, new calipers and new brake master cylinders.
New to the standard Scout is a Sport seat and passenger pegs, plus new two-tone colour options of Metallic Jade over Thunder Black and Indian Motorcycle Red over Ivory Cream. The Scout Bobber adds Deepwater Metallic (blue) for 2020 to the existing colour choices.
New options for 2020 include an exhaust system that improves horsepower (by 10 per cent) and throttle response, as well as producing a deeper engine note. Available in chrome or matte black, and as a full 2-into-1 exhaust system, or as a shorty slip-on kit, the new exhaust can also be retro-fitted to MY19 Scouts.
Other new accessories for 2020 include a quick-release fairing with two windscreen options, luggage rack and rack bag. A Rider Comfort seat, tinted windscreens, bar-end mirrors, smoked indicators and various handlebar and foot controls are also available. Due for local release later this year are semi-rigid saddlebags.
