2019 Yamaha XV250 arrives
Better known as the Virago, the XV250 has been part of the Yamaha lineup for decades, and thanks to its formula of LAMS legality, a low seat height and smooth, torquey v-twin engine, the XV250 has been the first bike for countless riders.
The formula that makes this compact cruiser the ideal starter is unchanged for the 2019 version, including the bulletproof 249cc air-cooled engine with TCI ignition, electric starting and dual chrome exhaust, with the proven specification extending to the 5-speed gearbox, traditional steel double cradle frame and wide handlebar placement.
Tele forks up front offer 140mm of travel, with twin rear shocks offering 100mm. While the front brake is a 282mm disc, the age of the XV250 is evidenced by the retention of a drum rear brake. An 18-inch/15-inch front/rear wheel combo is standard, shod with 3.00-18 47P front and 130/90-15 M/C 66P rear tyres.
That super-low 685mm seat height is part of a dimensional package that includes 2190mm overall length and 710mm width, with a 9.5-litre fuel tank and wet weight of just 147kg.
New to the XV250 for 2019 is a metallic silver paint scheme with subtle striping and Yamaha badging. Priced from $6,799, the MY19 XV250 is now in stock Australia-wide. See your Yamaha dealer for more details.
