"The Avenger". September 2007
All OZ Trikes are built in-house with most carrying a list of specs that many car manufacturers would be hard put to match! As you can see from the pictures, they specialise in one-off machines that will stand out in just about any company.
Their latest creation is the "Avenger". This unique trike is testimony to the skill of the technicians, sculptors and artists that can be found at OZ Trikes' HQ in Somersby, NSW.
To give the technicians their due first, the Avenger boasts a turbocharged 2.3-litre engine, so it's got plenty of go, with the power transferred via a fully automatic gearbox. The level of build quality and finish in the frame, suspension and forks is top class. Oversized Mickey Thompson rubber on the back & fat front tyre means the Avenger will have no problems in the traction department, either.
The sculptors have created a smooth fibreglass body, that avoids the slab-sided looks of some other trikes. The body also boasts some neat touches, like the Chevy Impala-style triple rear tail lights, that flow into the shape of the guards.
While there's no doubting the results achieved by the technicians and sculptors, it's the artwork in the Avenger that really makes it stand out.
The illuminated skull that straddles the front lights looks cool, as do the 'skeletal finger' handlebar extensions, that also hold the mirrors. But our favourite item was the 'foot' carved footplates. It's little touches like these that are indicative of the attention to detail in the Avenger.
Combined with the long and low stance, these touches give the Avenger a unique road presence.
The outstanding looks are matched by peerless performance, handling, optimum front to rear weight ratio and inspired manoeuvrability.
