Zero Motorcycles coming back to Australia
After a chequered history in the Australian market, US electric bike brand Zero Motorcycles are set to make a comeback, this time with Peter Stevens Motorcycles handling the distribution and retailing. Due for local release this summer, Zero’s return will include a comprehensive lineup of nine models, along with parts, accessories and apparel.
“Australia’s electric vehicle demand is ramping up as the nation’s charging infrastructure rapidly expands, as does availability of exciting new products like Zero’s,” said Zero Motorcycles Director of International Expansion, Adrian O’Donoughue.
“The powerful partnership between Zero Motorcycles and Peter Stevens will enable enthusiasts to access an established and reputable network of authorised dealers from coast to coast.”
Zero’s range for the local re-launch will include dual-sport models: DSR/X, DSR, DS, FX; and street models: SR/S, SR/F, SR, S, FXE. Power, riding range and other specs will be revealed closer to release.
Arguably the world’s leading full-sized electric bike brand, Zero Motorcycles first came to Australia in 2010 and barely lasted a year before departing. Returning in 2014, they withdrew again in 2017. This third crack at the Aussie market should be different, not only because of the broader adoption of EVs here in recent years, but also because it’s backed by Peter Stevens Motorcycles, one of the largest and best-known motorcycle retailers in the country, with 50 years’ experience and a suite of popular brands already on offer.
Initially, Peter Stevens stores in NSW, VIC, SA, and WA will sell Zero’s products. Additional dealers in other states will be appointed and announced in the coming months.
“Zero Motorcycles is a great fit for our business model and brand expansion,” said Peter Stevens Motorcycles CEO, Darren Munro. “Our leadership strongly believes electric motorcycles are an inevitable development in the long-term future of Australian motorcycling and we are passionate about being a leader in the way of the future.
“Zero is a pioneer and the clear leader in the EV space, boasting the most advanced technology and diverse model range available in the world makes us highly enthusiastic to be their Australian partner.”
Pricing and further details on the Zero Motorcycles range for Australia will be announced closer to local release.
