Track layout revealed for Australian MXGP round
Following last year’s announcement that Darwin would host a round of the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) in 2025, the track layout for the inaugural MXGP of Australia this September has been revealed.

What’s been described as one of the most exhilarating and technically complex tracks ever on Australian soil will be built within the Hidden Valley Raceway road racing circuit, 10km from Darwin’s CBD.
Designed by Australian company, Protraxx, to meet premium international standards, the track measures 1.6km, with 70 per cent sand and 30 per cent clay construction.

Combining larger jumps, faster straights and more technical obstacles than typical Australian MX tracks, the bespoke layout utilises the natural undulations of Hidden Valley, with almost every spectator point offering a clear view of the entire circuit.
The track features 22 corners, 21 jumps and a 90-metre start straight that crosses the Hidden Valley tarmac circuit. A rolling waves section, massive triple step-up and 100 foot (30 metre) jumps will make the track both unique and challenging.

“The design Protraxx has delivered is epic,” said Australian MX legend, Jeff Leisk. “The world's best riders want to be challenged – pushed to the absolute limit of control – to gain an advantage over their rivals. This track has all the elements to do just that.
“What I also love about the design is that spectators will be able to see most of the track from almost every vantage point. And because it’s part of the Hidden Valley Complex, it has all the facilities needed to make the fan experience world-class. Kudos to the NT Government for bringing MXGP to Australia.”

Delivered by the Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC), in partnership with Infront Moto Racing and Motorcycling Australia, the MXGP of Australia will be held on 19-21 September as the finale for the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship season. MXGP, MX2 and WMX (FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship) categories will race, along with national support classes. The round will also feature a State of Origin-style battle for local MX3 and MX85 riders.
