PRODUCT - Kriega R15 backpack

It may be the smallest backpack in the Kriega range, but the R15 is big when it comes to features.

Compact, light, durable and versatile, the R15 has been the go-to option for many road, enduro and adventure riders. It’s even found favour with the mountain bike community.

As the name suggests, the R15 has a 15-litre capacity, so it’s large enough to take bulky items like a rain jacket, first aid kit, spare gloves, puncture kit, tool roll and the like in the main compartment, while a smaller external compartment with a clear front is designed for maps and other small items.

A waterproof inner pocket within the main compartment allows smaller items, like phones, to be separated, and both this and the main compartment can be compressed for load stability. There’s also a side-access external pocket and optional harness pocket.

A choice of 5- and 10-litre add-on drypacks are also optionally available, as is a 3-litre Hydrapak reservoir, which can be a more comfortable alternative to a separate Camelback or adventure jackets with built-in compartments for a hydration bladder.

Thanks to its tough 420D nylon rip-stop construction, with Hypalon reinforcement and 1000D Cordura panels on the base and harness, the R15 is designed to take a lot of wear and tear.

To keep the backpack secure, grip fabrics abound in all the contact areas, while the Superspace 5mm ventilated back allows airflow for comfort.

Another key feature on the R15 is Kriega’s class-leading Quadloc-lite harness, which is adjustable and easy to click in and out of once the straps are set to fit. The design of the harness straps removes weight and strain from your shoulders, making this backpack feel lighter than it actually is (0.85kg empty) and comfortable to wear all day.

The Kriega backpack range numbers more than a dozen items, including the larger R20, R25, R30 and R35 units, as well as related accessories. They may be a little pricier than some, but every Kriega item is made for purpose and made to last, backed by a 10-year guarantee.
