PRODUCT - Kenwood STZ-RF200WD MotoCam
With lockdowns over (hopefully!) and a return to the freedoms we used to take for granted pre-COVID, it’s time to get out and ride. But how about capturing those rides so you can relive them down the track and share them with mates?
When it comes to dash cams, there are many options out there, but negatives when it comes to image quality, size and durability rule most of them out for application to motorcycles.

Kenwood’s STZ-RF200WD MotoCam ticks a lot of the boxes that riders are looking for in a camera recording system, both for action sports use and commuting.
This multi-purpose package can be fitted to motorcycles, ATVs and Side by Sides. And because elements of the system are IP67 waterproof rated, it can even be used on jetskis.

Clever Cameras
The MotoCam package consists of two cameras, control box, GPS antenna, activation switch and related cables.
Why two cameras? To capture what’s in front and behind, so when you’re on the road, you’ll have evidence of that near miss ahead as well as that rear-ender behind. And at a track day, you can record your mates as you blast past them on the straight!
Unlike GoPros and some existing dashcam cameras, each MotoCam camera is a super-compact unit, measuring just 23.5mm in diameter, with integral brackets that make mounting easy.

Each camera features an F2.2 fixed focus lens and offers Full HD recording, as well as the following built-in features:
- Extra Wide Coverage – both cameras offer a 195-degree diagonal field of view.
- High Dynamic Range (HDR) – Ensuring superior recording in mixed shade/light conditions and especially at night, HDR adjusts to both dark and light environments without under or overexposing the video.
- Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) – Motorcycles move and the roads can be rough, so EIS compensates for camera shake to deliver a sharper, clearer image.

Control and Safety
The main control unit and GPS antenna are both small enough to be mounted under the seat or behind fairings. The main unit is equipped with a 3-axis G-sensor designed to detect a collision, while the GPS antenna records speed, latitude and longitude. This data can be contentious, but in an accident, it can also be crucial in apportioning blame.
The activation switch is similarly compact and designed to be easily mounted, either near the switchgear or somewhere on the frame, with simple push-button on-off operation.

Water and Dust Protection
For durability, the cameras, switch and GPS antenna are IP66/67 rated, meaning they can resist high-pressure water ingress and are fully sealed against dust, dirt and sand, while the main control unit is IP55 rated, meaning it’s protected against dust and low-pressure water ingress.

More Clever Stuff
Covering just about every eventuality, the STZ-RF200WD MotoCam includes a super capacitor that ensures video files are closed properly in the event of lost power.
There’s also a wireless link function that allows easy set-up of the MotoCam, video playback, file transfer and file sharing via the Kenwood Motorsports CAM app (Android 7.0 or later, iOS 11.0 or later).
Data is recorded on a microSD card and the MotoCam can take cards of up to 256GB capacity. To get you started, a 32GB card is included.
