Kymco adds Like 150 S to scooter range
Kymco’s ‘Like’ family of scooters has expanded to five with the addition of the Like 150 S. The new arrival joins the Like 50, Like 125, Like 150 R and Like 200i.
Based on the Like 150 R, the Like 150 S runs that model’s 9.9kW 150cc single-cylinder engine (the most powerful in its class), CVT twist-and-go transmission, the same recently updated bi-beam frame and most of the same cycle parts, but brings its own distinctive style.
Kymco says the Like 150 S adds “extra sport and agility,” but the suspension – tele fork front and preload-adjustable twin shock rear – is unchanged, as are the 12-inch wheels, 110/70-12 front tyre and 130/70-12 rear tyre, 220mm front and 200mm rear disc braking with ABS.
Seat height is unchanged at 790mm and the 6.8-litre fuel capacity is unchanged, too, but the Like 150 S does manage to shed 5kg of weight compared to the Like 150 R for a claimed dry weight of 115kg. This is due to removing the rear carrier and top box, but the underseat storage that can take an open-face helmet is unchanged, as is the front glovebox storage for small items.
The Like 150 S’s main point of difference over the Like 150 R is its styling. This includes a more streamlined dash, slimmer headlight, new pillion grabrail, new front vent and new muffler cover.
In place of the Like 150 R’s chrome trim, the Like 150 S goes for black, which includes the badging, headlight bezel, bodywork piping, mirrors, bar ends and fork lowers.
The legshield air vent has been mildly modified and black detailing has been added to the front mudguard, while the seat is trimmed in black and grey.
Complementing this is vibrant orange paint that’s the only colour scheme available on this model.
The Kymco Like 150 S is priced from $4,490 (+ ORCs), which is a $500 discount on the Like 150 R and includes Kymco’s three-year factory warranty.
