Honda's CBR150 Mini-Racer. January 2007
At a recommended retail of only $6990, the CBR150 is an affordable means by which juniors can enter the production road racing scene.
With a new, MA-sanctioned three-State junior series to commence in March, potential customers will want to purchase the CBR150R sooner rather than later, according to Honda's Brand Manager, Phillip Reynolds.
"The Motorcycle Road Race Development Association (MRRDA) series will provide a brand new competition opportunity in this country for young riders."
"As with any series, it is important that riders have sufficient time to prepare the bike, as well as conduct testing and practise sessions," Reynolds said.
"We would recommend that anyone interested in participating in the series, purchase their CBR150 now in order to allow enough time for these activities."
The MRRDA titles will provide a class for riders aged 13 -15 years old. To ensure standardisation, all bikes must be supplied by Honda Australia and no engine modifications are allowed.
One participant in the series will also be invited to participate in the trials for the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Europe. The prize will include air fares and accommodation for the winner and a guardian.
According to Paul Edwards, Chairman of the MRRDA, Australia has badly needed this series for a long time.
"If we are to continue to see Australian World Champions, we need to work hard to make sure that this series is a success."
"With the support of our sponsors, including Honda Australia, we are well on our way to a very exciting year in junior road racing."
In 2007, the MRRDA, together with St George MC Club in NSW, Hartwell MC Club in VIC and Motorcycle Sportsmen Motorcycle Club in QLD will host the 5 round national junior road racing series.
