Harley-Davidson to celebrate 120th Anniversary with ‘Homecoming Challenge’

Harley-Davidson turns 120 in 2023, so to celebrate, The Motor Company will host a huge, four-day “Homecoming” party, while ‘The Road to Harley-Davidson Homecoming Challenge’ competition is offering the grand prize of a trip for two to the USA to attend the Homecoming event.

Scheduled for 13 to 16 July, 2023, the Homecoming will be held at multiple venues throughout Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with the first edition of what’s set to be an annual event to fill Harley-Davidson’s home town with music, food and moto-culture.

“This will be the first in a series of unforgettable annual events in Milwaukee,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson.

“We invite everyone - riders, non-riders and fans around the world - to join us in Milwaukee for the Harley-Davidson Homecoming where we will celebrate 120 years of our incredible brand.” 

The Road to Harley-Davidson Homecoming Challenge

A global competition, The Road to Harley-Davidson Homecoming Challenge offers virtual badges, along with daily and monthly prizes, with the grand prize for participants from Australia and New Zealand being a trip to Milwaukee for the inaugural Homecoming event in 2023.

The challenge is open to riders and non-riders alike, so you don’t need to own a Harley-Davidson, or even ride a motorcycle to participate.

In the lead up to the 120th birthday party, Harley says they’re aiming for the Homecoming Challenge to excite “with an experience that will reconnect owners with their love of riding and increase engagement with new riders”.

The Homecoming Challenge is divided into three phases, each lasting two months and presenting the rich heritage and impact of Harley-Davidson over the decades, while also looking to the future.

The first phase, ‘Kickstart to Passion,’ is already complete, having ran from April to May. Phase 2, ‘From Brand to Icon,’ runs in June and July, 2022, with Phase 3’s ‘The Road Ahead’ running across August and September, 2022.

Participating in the Homecoming Challenge is a simple process that starts with downloading the H-D App (available from the Apple App Store or Google Play store). Riders then use the app to start logging their kilometres when on the road.

Accumulating kilometres is one of the ways to win the grand prize, so participants are encouraged to log every trip they do on their motorcycle, even if it’s just a short commute.

Visiting Harley-Davidson dealerships provides additional chances to win, while logging on to www.H-D.com/ride presents participants with weekly and monthly activities to fill the gaps between rides.

For riders, this online component will offer “an outlet for their voices and opinions,” while also allowing non-riders to get involved and win prizes.

Kilometres accumulated over the course of the Homecoming Challenge will go toward a participating rider’s overall points score, while riders can also collect virtual badges and enter the event sweepstakes for a chance to win the grand prize. 

Grand Prize

The grand prize for Homecoming Challenge participants from Australia (with a separate competition for New Zealand) is a trip for two to the 120th Homecoming celebrations in Milwaukee next year, including return flights, airport transfers, four nights’ accommodation, transport to the Harley-Davidson Celebration event on 15 July and US$500 spending money.

The winning Aussie pair will join other challenge winners from New Zealand, Germany, France, the UK, Mexico, Canada and every US state, as well as tens of thousands of additional Harley-Davidson owners and enthusiasts.
