FEATURE - 2021 Triumph Street Twin
A great introduction to the Triumph Bonneville family, the Street Twin retains that position with the 2021 model, which gains some spec and cosmetic improvements. There’s an all-new limited-edition version of this popular model, too
2021 Street Twin highlights
- Euro 5 compliant 900cc twin with lower emissions
- New cast alloy wheels
- Brembo front caliper
- New bodywork
- More comfortable seat
- ALL NEW Street Twin Gold Line Limited Edition
First appearing in 2016 as an entry point into Triumph’s Bonneville family, the Street Twin retains that position for 2021, starting at under $16,000.
Running the same 900cc parallel twin as the Bonneville T100, but offering more of a modern look with its cast alloy wheels, modified fuel tank and modern tank decal, the Street Twin also features a significantly lower seat height of 765mm.
Other differences include a single instrument pod, modern mufflers and a heat shield on the headers, blackout touches on the engine and mirrors, a bobbed front mudguard and modern-look clear lens indicators.
The Street Twin’s engine output is almost identical to the MY21 Bonneville T100 now, at 47.8kW and 80Nm, but max power comes on slightly higher in the Street Twin, at 7500rpm, with max torque peaking a little higher, too, at 3800rpm, but Triumph says there’s “incredible torque” from low down in the rev range.
Like the rest of the MY21 Bonneville lineup, the engine in the Street Twin has been updated to make it Euro 5 compliant.
Other changes of note on the Street Twin for 2021 include new alloy wheels, new sidecovers and a new seat. The wheels add machined detailing, the sidecovers have been reshaped and add mesh inserts, while the two-up seat is a new design and the seat itself said to be more comfortable, thanks to being 10mm thicker, with a new foam mixture offering better padding.
Other features, like ABS and switchable Traction Control, Rain and Road riding modes, engine immobiliser and a Brembo 4-piston front brake caliper, carry over from the 2020 model.
MY21 Street Twin colour options include Jet Black, Cobalt Blue and Matte Ironstone.

NEW - 2021 Street Twin Gold Line
An all-new variant of the Street Twin that’s limited to just 1,000 units worldwide, the Street Twin Gold Line is defined by special cosmetic touches.
Finished in Matte Sapphire Black paint, the Street Twin Gold Line features a classic Triumph logo in gold on the fuel tank, with a contrast colour panel and hand-painted gold coachlines on the tank.
There’s also gold trim on the sidecovers and gold pinstriping on the wheels, which also feature machined detailing.
Being a limited edition, the Gold Line carries a price premium over the standard Street Twin of $1,100, but how many of the 1,000-unit total are coming to Australia was unconfirmed at time of writing.
