CDR Yamaha goes pink for a good cause
The pink livery extended to the bikes, and even CDR Yamaha's Rockstar promo girl lent her support, donning a pair of pink Rockstar leggings, and helping the CDR riders sign special pink posters for the round. The pink gear and livery was a special initiative from CDR Yamaha, Rockstar and Fox to shine light on the topic of breast cancer awareness. Each company was only too happy to get behind the initiative to promote the topic in the community.
"Running pink Fox gear and changing the colour of our race bikes is our way of assisting and raising the profile of breast cancer," CDR Yamaha team owner Craig Dack said ahead of the Wollongong round.
"Breast cancer is a serious issue in the community and effects thousands of people so if we can raise a few dollars and make people think a little more about its effect on families and the community then we will be happy."
Monza Imports, the company that brings Fox Racing apparel into Australia, have been a supporter of the Pink Breast Cancer awareness campaign for some time, and always look for ways to give back to the community.
"Fox are always happy to be involved in this program," said athlete rep, Mick Sinclair.
"Each year we have offered our support to the program via racing and this year we are combining the PINK gear with a donation to the cancer appeal. We urge others to do the same as every little bit helps for an illness like this."
CDR Rockstar Yamaha's lead rider, Jay Marmont, has always been quick to throw his weight behind a good cause and in the past he done several things to assist or aide people in need. Breast cancer awareness is something Jay feels passionately about and was keen to display the pink threads.
"I might cop a bout of flak from the boys about it," Jay joked before hitting the track. "but that's a small price to pay in trying to raise the level of attention for breast cancer. I think it's a great initiative by CDR Rockstar Yamaha and Fox and I'm proud to be a part of it"
The all-pink theme ran through to CDR's major sponsor, Rockstar Energy Drink, who have just launched their new 'Perfectberry' flavor locally. A blend of raspberry, strawberry and blueberry with no sugar added, Perfectberry is signified by its all pink can.
"With its great flavour, zero added sugar and a convenient straw on the side, Perfectberry is set to wow the active, modern woman," said Chris Burgon, National Sales & Marketing Manager, Rockstar.
"The bright pink can has great shelf presence, you can't miss it!"
Another new initiative for CDR Yamaha at the Wollongong round - which a lot of fans took advantage of - was the chance to get a photo taken with Jay Marmont, Jake Moss and gorgeous Rockstar promo girl, Becky. The photo opportunity was a big hit with the kids, especially those who had the chance to sit on the CDR Yamaha YZ 450F bikes!
All that pink couldn't keep the rain away from Wollongong's WIN Stadium, with a thunderstorn drenching the venue and turning the purpose-built track to mud. In the sodden conditions, the pink gear actually came in pretty handy, helping the crowd pick Jay and Jake out from the resty of the mud-covered field!
