Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Aug 06
And as we prepare to commemorate the 10th consecutive running of the event at the magnificent Phillip Island circuit from 15 - 17 September, there is indeed much to celebrate. The ten year celebrations are also a boon for Grand Prix visitors, with general admission and grandstand ticket prices frozen at 2005 rates.
"For just $35, spectators can witness an entire day of adrenalin-charged action at what is widely regarded as the best round of the World Championship," said Mr Bamford.
Much has changed in the world of MotoGP since the world's greatest two-wheeled race returned to the Island in 1997. Back then, Valentino Rossi - a little known 18-year old from the northern Italian city of Urbino - became the 125cc World Champion. In the same year, Australia's legendary Mick Doohan won the fourth of his five consecutive MotoGP
World Championships.

Australian MotoGP wildcards announced Motorcycling Australia (MA) has named three riders to be granted wildcard entry into this year's 2006 Australian 125cc MotoGP at Phillip Island.
Brett Symonds of Tasmania, Tom Hatton of WA and Blake Leigh-Smith of Queensland, pending FIM final approval, have all been given the green light by MA to appear at the event. Rhys Moller and Brent Rigoli are emergencies.
For Symmonds, the ride will be a 'second chance', having been granted entry to the 2005 event, but breaking his leg in five places at this time last year! The Tasmanian has only been able to return to competition this year.
Ride for Baz
The 'Ride to the GP - a Tribute to Barry Sheene' is also on again this year, departing from Bairnsdale, VIC, on Thursday September 14, touring through Gippsland on the way to the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.
Barry's daughter, Sidonie Sheene will be at the Island to greet riders taking part in this ever-growing event. This is a free 'convoy' ride open to all riders who want to take part.
