Australian Motorcycle Expo 06 a winner!
The show was strongly supported by all the major manufacturers - Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Triumph/Vespa/Hyosung, Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta, Ducati and Aprilia. Manufacturers rolled out some big guns with Harley showing '07 model softails and other popular models, Honda the new CBR600RR, BMW F800 ST and Kawasaki the KX450 to name but four! For the first time the popularity of scooters was recognised. The Scooter Festival hosted many city friendly commuter bikes, plus a show 'n shine.
Events were ongoing with airbrush displays, the Australian Chopper Challenge, Le Minz 24-hour Scooterthon presentation, dirt bike tyre changing championships, Honda's Red Riders presentations and fashion parades. Along with a strong main arena program this was an Expo with something for everyone.
There were over 100 accessory companies displaying their wares, along with adventure tour outfits, race replicas & pocket racing bikes. Regular Expo attendee, Last Ride Funerals, was almost upstaged by a stretched bike that actually incorporated the coffin into the frame of the bike!
While visitors had hundreds of bikes to look at, this was far from a static show, with regular displays from the Yamaha Stadium Enduro X team. The Enduro X series saw Australia's top 30 Enduro, Safari, Motocross and Supercross riders race indoors. The course consisted of water, rock, log and sand crossings, plus off-camber sections, hill climbs and more to keep both riders and spectators on edge. Round two of the FMX Pro Tour was also staged, which saw some of the best Moto X riders perform. A specially built indoor stadium hosted the event.
