2020 Australian Motocross Championship cancelled
The 2020 Australian Motocross Championship (aka MX Nationals) is officially cancelled for 2020, following an announcement by Motorcycling Australia (MA) on 1 October.

Following Williams Event Management stepping down from their role in promoting and managing the series in June, MA stepped in, with hopes of getting some sort of national-level MX championship going in the latter part of 2020. MA set a deadline of 1 October for a final decision on the viability of a championship this year.
MA say they consulted with industry, teams, riders and clubs to see if it was possible to run the championship during this COVID-19 period. However, despite significant work over recent months in exploring all possible options to hold the Championship, MA cited the uncertainly around State Government COVID-19 border restrictions in making it impossible to run the championship in 2020.
MA thanked all stakeholders, clubs, teams and riders for their support and patience, and is now focusing all its efforts on delivering a successful 2021 Australian Motocross Championship.

“While the cancellation is disappointing for riders, teams, industry and fans, MA is already working hard to ensure that we have the best possible championship in 2021,” said MA CEO, Peter Doyle.
“The Australian Motocross Championship is the breeding ground of future superstars and will continue to showcase the best motocross action in the country.”
An announcement on the 2021 Australian Motocross Championship, including a new series promoter, is expected later this year.
