Seller's Description
Mana 850 - revolutionary bike. Bought as a commuter, but been sitting idle for a couple of years. Full service history, never damaged, and new tyres as of the last few hundred km. Absolutely brilliant around town machine, or a first full size bike. Big storage compartment where the tank should be, and tank under the seat. Aprilia power, sports suspension and brakes, and scooter convenience. Rated 4sec/100km/h Don't believe any of the rubbish about this model being an 'automatic'. It's CVT (continuously variable transmission) just means that when you hit the throttle, it's already in the right gear. The transmission is a direct drive belt with infinitely variable ratio - not a torque converter, so there's no lag. This gives an unbelievably smooth, continuous acceleration, that some reviewers felt was lacking, but is actually quicker than changing gears - just no surges. Call it preference, but I got to love it the first time I experienced it. And another wrong idea is that you can't engine brake (which an 'automatic' is useless at) - it actually does exactly the same thing in reverse - sits the engine on max braking compression RPM, while the tranny does the business of gearing down, and you get a smooth, perfect power backoff.
