Seller's Description
It is a 1953 2-stroke 98cc Villiers-engined Excelsior Consort, has girder fork front suspension & a rigid tail, drum brakes, direct electrics with a small battery, ignition key retro-fitted for security, but kickstart only. It has a 2-speed gearbox, which is controlled by a thumb lever on the right handlebar grip. The pictures show the handlebars as they were when I first acquired it, but I have since flipped the bars over as drag bars, which look better. Handles better too, but can be easliy swapped back. Runs but needs tuning, its not a major issue, but requires a day or two fiddling around to find the issue. There was a problem with original carburettor, the jet needle was worn, so I purchased a reconditioned one from Villiers in the UK. This probably needs adjusting & could be part of the problem. I regularly start the bike and maintain it even though I am not riding it. It is currently unregistered, but would pass a roadworthy with no worries. It is great on flat roads and small inclines, but will struggle with any substantial hills like the one I live on top of, however nothing compares to the feeling of this little lightweight bike when youre cruising around.
