Throttle Roll 2023

Monday, 2 October, saw the streets of Marrickville in Sydney’s inner west echo with the thunderous rumble of finely-tuned engines and the rhythmic beat of rock 'n' roll music as Throttle Roll stormed into town.

After a series of COVID-enforced delays, the Throttle Roll Street Party was back in 2023 and lived up to its reputation as the premier showcase for classic and custom motorcycles in Australia.
An incredible turnout of more than 2,500 people - motorcycle enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike – came to see a wild selection of close to 50 cafe racers, choppers, baggers, street trackers and bobbers, as well as untouched classics.

The Bikes
Enthusiasts from all corners of the country (and a few from overseas) converged on Saywell Street in Marrickville, presenting their unique creations and classic motorcycles for all to admire. Whether it was the sleek lines of a cafe racer, the rugged charm of a chopper, the dazzling bling of a bagger or the minimalist elegance of a bobber, Throttle Roll had it all.

Deus, Gasoline Motor Co. and Pearson’s Choppers brought their showrooms to the street, while manufacturers presenting new rides included Triumph, Harley-Davidson, Royal Enfield, BMW and MV Agusta. Savic had their soon-to-be-released C-Series electric roadster on show, with other EV offerings joining the party, too.

The quantity and diversity of bikes on display left attendees in awe and once again proved Throttle Roll’s status as a must-attend event for those passionate about two-wheeled machines.

The Bands
Throttle Roll wasn't just about motorcycles; the event offered an incredible musical lineup, with six bands taking to the stage throughout the day. XOLO and Papa Pilko & The Binrats were the headline acts, backed by Howlin Alvarez & Drey Rollan, Zed Charles, Smitty & B Goode, Better Off Ted and The Stripp.
The sounds of rock and rockabilly were the perfect soundtrack to the visual spectacle of the motorcycles on display and certainly added to Throttle Roll’s vibrant atmosphere

The Whole Gang
What truly sets the Throttle Roll Street Party apart is its appeal to the broader community. While this year’s event was a haven for motorcycle enthusiasts, it also attracted a diverse crowd of individuals who may not have initially considered themselves motorcycle aficionados. Families, friends, and curious locals came together to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, mouthwatering food and collection of unique vendors (everything from surfboards to cutthroat shaves!), making it a memorable day for all.

"We couldn't be happier with this year's Throttle Roll Street Party,” said organiser Mark Hawwa, who also founded the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. “The passion and enthusiasm of the motorcycle community, combined with the support of the broader community, made for an unforgettable day.
“We're already excited for next year and can't wait to see what incredible motorcycles and experiences we'll have in store."
