Themes announced for 2023 Historic Winton
Details have been released for this year’s Historic Winton, with the 46th edition of the all-historic motorsport and motoring event to be held at Winton Motor Raceway on 27–28 May.
Presented by the Austin 7 Club Inc., in association with the Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria (HMRAV), the 46th Historic Winton will showcase two-days of historic motorsport action across a range of classes that people travel far and wide to see.
Classic racing bikes in action include Veteran, Class C, P3, P4, P5 and Unlimited. There’s also the Bill Luke Memorial Race and Ken Lucas Classic for P2 and P3 classes in a programme that includes 20 historic motorcycle and sidecar races across the weekend.
“We are thrilled to be back again with another weekend with fun for all the family,” said Austin 7 Club Inc, President Len Kerwood. “This historic race meet has been around for so long now that we are seeing third and fourth generations competing and attending, as well as quite a lot of first-timers.”
Off-track, the heritage displays will mark a number of automotive anniversaries this year, which on the motorcycle front includes 120 years of Harley-Davidson and 100 years of BMW Motorrad.
Owners of both are invited to come along and include their bike in the themed display, with the chance to take part in the Sunday Parade laps of the circuit.
Kerwood explained that invitations to the parade are placed on selected vehicles on Sunday morning, so get there early for your chance to do a lap of Winton Motor Raceway.
Parade participants are selected based on criteria that includes the number of vehicles in the specific anniversary group, rarity and presentation.
Outside of the anniversaries, additional themes for the paddock this year include a postie bike and vintage motorcycle display. Again, owners of both are invited to bring their suitable example along for display and the chance to participate in the Sunday Parade.
