If you’re a motorcyclist on a budget – and let’s face it, most of us are – you’ll know that some helmets are priced out of reach. Same goes if you’re new to riding. For the LAMS rider to kit themselves out with gear after spending a wedge on their first bike can be a financial challenge. Fortunately, there are affordable options out there, offering premium protection without the premium price tag.
The APEX IV full face helmet from RJAYS has a polycarbonate shell that meets the latest ECE R22-06 safety standards. An aerodynamic design and effective ventilation allow the APEX IV to cut through the air while providing cooling airflow that can be adjusted, too. Built-in features include a pull-down internal sunshield, Pinlock-prepared visor, micrometric buckle closure and an interior lining that’s not only removable and washable, but also prepared for intercom speakers.
The best bit is that the APEX IV offers all this for as little as $149.95 RRP. That’s right, less than $150 will get you a helmet with a top safety rating that’s loaded with features. For a little extra - $169.95 RRP – you can add a bit of style to your ride with the new ‘Raker’ graphic version.

The core of the RJAYS APEX IV is its advanced polycarbonate shell. Subjected to stringent European safety standards, the shell passed with the top ECE R22-06 certification. At around 2kg, the APEX IV is lighter than most rivals in its price point, but still a little heavier than helmets with composite construction. As such, it’s better suited for the daily commute and weekend rides, rather than long touring rides.
Making the APEX IV comfortable and practical for everyday use is its aerodynamic shape that includes a rear spoiler and streamlined air vents. Designed to be as slippery as possible, this aero efficiency also reduces wind noise and makes the helmet more stable at speed, while the vents for the internal air channels are easy to adjust with gloves on.

One of the APEX IV’s clever features – and one that not a lot of other helmets in its price range have – is the internal sun shield. This sits under the main visor and can be raised and lowered at the flick of a switch – without opening the visor. Offering safer riding in mixed sun and shade conditions, the sun shield also means you don’t have to mess around with sunglasses, which can be uncomfortable to wear with some helmets.
The inside of the APEX IV is well padded, and with a size range from XS to 2XL, most riders should be able to find the optimal fit. Both the lining material and cheekpads are removable for washing, and have been designed to accept speakers for in-helmet communication systems.
The visor is scratch-resistant, UV-protected, Pinlock-prepared and can be changed easily without tools. A clear visor is standard, with smoked and mirrored options available.
Rounding out the APEX IV features list is a helmet strap that’s adjustable and has a micrometric buckle closure of the quick-release type.

Along with solid colour options – matte black, gloss black, gloss white and matte blue – the APEX IV is now available with the ‘Raker’ graphic. This design combines a black base with dark grey inserts and sleek slashes of bright colour. The APEX IV Raker graphic is available in the following options:
Black/Grey/Red
Black/Grey/Blue
Black/Grey/Orange
Black/Grey/Yellow
Black/White
