An evolution of the ROADTEC 01 SE, and combining elements from the SPORTEC M9 RR, Metzeler’s ROADTEC 02 is made to suit owners of sport touring, naked, crossover and adventure motorcycles. This tyre also suits supersport riders who want to increase the level of sportiness over the typical sport touring tyre.

Improving riding ease and peak performance thanks to the latest evolution of compounds and carcass specifications, the ROADTEC 02 also features revolutionary DYNATREAD technology and special tread pattern characteristics that improve grip in the wet and dry.

DYNATREAD – How it Works

The ROADTEC 02’s “2-tyres-in-one” capability is thanks to DYNATREAD. A patented adaptive tread pattern design technology, DYNATREAD allows the ROADTEC 02 to offer super sport and sport touring characteristics, essentially modifying the tyre’s behaviour according to your riding style.

When riding faster in dry conditions, DYNATREAD responds to the motorcycle’s load transfer by joining together the walls of a portion of the tread grooves. This reduces tread band mobility and increases solidity and stability. Because all of the tyre’s grip potential is used in this state, there’s more support and feedback for the rider, resulting in super sport class tyre behaviour.

ROADTEC 02 – Other Benefits

Compared with its predecessor, the ROADTEC 01 SE, the ROADTEC 02 reduces vibration and noise, which in turn reduces rider fatigue. This makes longer journeys more comfortable.

The ROADTEC 02 also offers increased performance and safety in a wide range of temperatures and road conditions, plus easier handling.

Durability isn’t impacted by the DYNATREAD technology, with ROADTEC 02 tyre life claimed at around 16,000km for the front tyre and 12,000km for the rear tyre, based on Metzeler’s own testing. This is comparable to the ROADTEC 01 and ROADTEC 01 SE.

Australian release of the Metzeler ROADTEC 02 is underway, with some front and rear options already available. More size options will be added to the range before the end of 2024.
