Matchless G50 to be auctioned in Sydney
Originally sourced from a museum in the UK, the C1962 G50 is one of only 170 of these dedicated race machines built, and has been in the present owner's possession for almost two decades.
Set up for racing, the G50 has been campaigned at Phillip Island following the fitment of a new piston for the big 497cc single in 2000. A spare megaphone exhaust, set of Whitworth spanners and sockets, and a good quality bike cover will be supplied with the bike upon sale. The Matchless presents in exceptional condition and selection of receipts for past work done will also supplied.
A ready-made entry into historic motorcycle competition, this G50 has a pre-auction estimate of $38,000 - $44,000. The other motorcycle consigned for Shannons Sydney auction is a 1969 Yamaha TD2 250cc proddie racer. Like the Matchless, The TD2 is also in good historic race-ready condition and comes with a pre-auction estimate of $9,000 - $12,000.
Shannons Sydney Autumn Classic Auction will take place at Shannons' Sydney auction rooms, 65 Reserve Road, St Leonards, on Monday, May 7, from 7:00pm.
