Kawasaki introduce KLX 150L
Taking Kawasaki's tried and proven KLX trailbike formula, but dropping it into a smaller engine package that makes it LAMS legal and suitable for first time riders, the KLX 150L comes with a lot to recommend it, not least of which is an introductory price of just $4,899 ride-away.
Powered by a 144cc air-cooled 4-stroke single, the KLX 150L features a steel box-section perimeter frame and rolls on 21-inch (front) and 18-inch (rear) wheels.
Fed by a Keihin NCV24 carby, the SOHC single-cylinder engine features a 58.0 x 54.34mm bore/stroke, with other features including digital ignition, electric starting and wet sump lubrication. Transmission is a 5-speed.
Suspension for the new model consists of 33mm tele forks up front, with 175mm of travel, while the rear Uni-Trak single shock has 190mm of travel and is 5-way preload adjustable.
Brakes are single discs front and rear, with the 240mm front caliper running a 2-piston caliper, while the rear stopper is a 190mm disc with single piston caliper.
Overall length is 2,080mm, wheelbase 1,340mm, width 770mm, ground clearance a decent 300mm, with wet weight listed by Kawasaki as 115kg. Seat height is 875mm, a little on the high side for smaller riders, but fuel capacity is a handy 7.0-litres, delivering a claimed economy of 2.9lt/100km.
A real dual purpose machine, the KLX 150L has enough off-road grunt to make it a fun weekend trailbasher, while the full complement of ADR lighting means it's suitable - and legal - for the daily commute as well.
The KLX 150L is now available from Kawasaki dealers. See your nearest dealer for more details on the introductory pricing offer.
