Ragnar jacket – tough and durable
Made from tear- and abrasion-resistant Ripstop material, the Ragnar jacket features 1200D polyester reinforcement in the shoulders and elbows.
The shoulders and elbows come with CE Level 1 protective armour. A back protector is available separately, with a pocket for this built in. The Ragnar is also compatible with Ixon’s Ix Airbag U03 vest that will be available in Australia in 2024.
Reflective panels on the back and upper rear sleeves are standard, offering night-time visibility.
Overall, the Ragnar textile jacket has a CE Class AA rating - one of the highest available.
Ragnar jacket – winter and summer comfort
The Ragnar's mesh panels on the chest, shoulders, lower sleeves and back are zippered to allow maximum airflow in hot weather. A 3D mesh front strip offers additional airflow when exposed. Resetting the jacket's main zip covers this mesh strip.
To further maximise airflow and comfort, there are also 3D mesh pockets for the shoulder and elbow armour.
For wet weather riding, the Ragnar has a removable 'X-dry' waterproof lining that’s also breathable to wick away sweat. The X-dry’s ‘26/20’ waterproof rating compares favourably to other popular linings.
Using the Schmerber scale to measure water pressure, the Ragnar's rating is 26,000 Schmerber (20,000 MVTR equivalent). This is more than four times the 8,000 Schmerber exerted on a rider travelling at high speed in rain. What this means is that the X-dry will only let water through in the most extreme situations.
The Ragnar also has a separate thermal lining for cold weather. This is a full-sleeve type, with a lycra thumb loop to help hold it in place. Density of the insulation in the thermal lining varies. Thicker 160gr insulation is at the front, with 120gr insulation the outer sleeves and 80gr on the inner sleeves and back.
These separate waterproof and thermal liners are both removable.
Ragnar jacket – practical plus
With adventure riding in mind, the Ragnar comes with an abundance of pockets, including one in the thermal lining.
Of the two lower front cargo packets, the left one is water repellent and the right waterproof. A rear patch pocket is large enough to hold one of the linings when not in use.
Two chest pockets include one that’s waterproof and shockproof - ideal for holding a smartphone.
Other clever features include a hook fastener for the collar tab and two front loops for attaching gloves or keys. The jacket also comes with a 2/3 zip for attaching to Ragnar pants.
Stretch panels and adjustment points on the cuffs and waist ensure a perfect fit. There's also collar tightness adjustment that's easy to use, even with gloves on.
The Ragnar jacket comes in three colour combinations. Choose from Black/Anthracite, Black/Grey/Red or Anthracite/Grey/Blue. Available sizes of S to 5XL vary depending on colour selected.
Ragnar pants – year-round versatility
Ragnar pants come with mast of the same features as the Ragnar jacket, including Ripstop construction with 1200D reinforcement. They feature similar mesh ventilation panels, CE armour and removable linings, too. These make the Ragnar pants practical to wear all year round.
Mesh panels run from thigh to shin, with ventilation adjustable via oversized zippers. The X-dry lining in the pants offers the same 26,000 Schmerber water pressure rating as the jacket.
Like the jacket, thes thermal liner, the removable thermal lining for the pants features insulation of different density. At the front, it's 120gr, and at the rear it's 80gr.
The knee sections come with CE Level 1 armour, while the hips get CE Level 2 armour. Both feature 3D mesh pockets for better airflow. There are also reflective panels on the lower leg areas.
Four pockets - two cargo style and two internal - include one that's waterproof, making it ideal for a phone or wallet.
For comfort, there’s a flex panel at the rear and stretch panels in key areas. An adjustable belt and adjustment points on the knee and ankle areas ensures a perfect fit. Removable and adjustable suspenders allow for a looser fit at the waist.
Ixon Ragnar pants are available in Black/Anthracite or Black/Grey/Red to match Ragnar jackets. Sizes range from S to 4XL.
