Ixon Ionix jacket – maximum ventilation for maximum cool this summer
There are plenty of jackets in Ixon’s summer range, but if you want maximum comfort when the hot weather is at its hottest, there’s one clear choice – the Ionix.
New to the Ixon range, the Ionix is a men’s summer textile jacket that offers extensive ventilation, as well as protection, all wrapped up in a sporty style.
Key features on the Ixon Ionix:
- ‘Hard Mesh’ panels on front, back and sleeves
- Fixed mesh lining
- CE Level 1 protection in shoulders and elbows
- Two external and two internal pockets
- Three colour choices and S-3XL sizes
Summer is here, and while summer riding is great, it often means sacrificing comfort for protection, especially with your jacket. The Ionix removes these compromises, offering unequalled ventilation, while still providing protection.
Designed in France, the Ionix may well have been made for Australia, as it keeps you comfortable in the hottest weather conditions – like Aussie summers!
Key to the Ionix’s performance in keeping you cool are ‘Hard Mesh’ panels on the chest, back and sleeves. While Hard Mesh features on other jackets in the Ixon range, it’s utilised more extensively on the Ionix. Hard Mesh panels cover most of the chest and back, as well as large sections on the front-facing part of the sleeves.
This is combined with a fixed mesh inner lining that’s soft and comfortable, so it doesn’t chafe or irritate. The non-mesh sections of the Ionix use Polyester 300D material, which is lighter and more flexible than the 600D used in other textile jackets.
In terms of ventilation and breathability, the Ionix rates the maximum 4 out of 4.
As it’s made purely for summer conditions, the Ionix has no removable thermal lining. Of course, the inner and outer mesh panels mean it’s not waterproof, either.
Summer riding comfort doesn’t mean losing out on protection with the Ionix. CE Certified Level 1 armour features in the shoulders and elbows. Padded areas on the sleeves, chest and back offer additional protection and a touch of racing style, too.
There’s provision for a CE-approved back protector (available separately) and the Ionix is also compatible with Ixon’s IX Airbag U03 vest. The U03 works without cables or bike sensors and is also re-usable (find out more about this inflatable airbag vest HERE).
Overall, the Ionix is CE certified Class A, which is lower than Class AA and AAA, but greater than Class C and B. It should be noted that AA and AAA jackets are heavier and much less comfortable, making them unsuitable for summer riding.
The Ionix offers a regular fit, cut in the classic roadster style. A low, non-adjustable collar is padded for comfort and an extended tail section provides lower back coverage when riding. There’s a zippered front closure, two zippered outer pockets and two additional pockets in the soft mesh inner lining. Press stud and elastic strap adjustment on the cuffs and waist ensure an ideal fit.
Three colour combinations are available - Black/White, Black/Red and Black – with the colour of the Ixon identification and accents on the chest, sleeves, shoulders and back differing for each.
$279.95 RRP. Available in S-3XL men’s sizes.
