Ilmor debuts

The Ilmor 'X3' is a V4 800cc machine, designed for the capacity regulations that will come into effect for the 2007 season. Although the X3 was outclassed by the 990cc MotoGP bikes, the Ilmor team used their appearance in the last two races to gather valuable data for a concerted assault on the 2007 season, hopefully with McCoy as the team's rider. Fellow Aussie, Andrew Pitt has also been putting in development laps on the X3 since losing his position with the Yamaha Italia World Superbike team.
