Harley-Davidson 09 model range. Dec 08
There are thirty-one local models including the new XR1200 Sportster and VRSCF Muscle models.
This month we look at the 6 model Sportster, 5 model Dyna and 9 model Softail families as well as the 3 model V-Rod range.
Next month we will cover the Touring, CVBO and new XR1200 models. One of the highllights is undoubtedly the new V-Rod Muscle. With athletic lines and large volume dual exhaust, this power cruiser takes the VRSC line in a new styling direction. Two other models, the Dyna Street Bob and the Heritage Softail Classic, receive a significant styling makeover for 2009. The touring range receives a new chassis for enhanced handling, load capacity and comfort. The new XR 1200 combines great street performance with purposeful motorcycling style and presence, and is the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle which has been designed specifically to meet the needs of demanding twisty mountain roads. The bike's original inspiration draws from the success of the legendary XR750 flat track racer. However, the XR 1200's ergonomics, components, handling and performance characteristics have been designed for the street, resulting in a performance oriented Roadster motorcycle.
Selected highlights of the 2009 Harley-Davidson line-up include:
_ All Sportster models have recalibrated suspension and improved damping for improved ride quality.
_ All Sportster and FX models have a new front fender that better matches the radius of the front tyre, closing the gap between fender and tyre for a cleaner look.
_ Toned and brawny, the V-Rod Muscle brings urban energy to the VRSC power cruiser platform. A large volume dual exhaust system, a clipped and clean rear end, and a broad shouldered look courtesy of gaping air scoops are a perfect match for the high revving power of the 1250 Revolution V-Twin engine.
_ The Dyna Street Bob gets a fresh dose of retro bobber attitude, with a newly clipped rear fender, blacked out powertrain and a tail light reminiscent of an old school garage custom.
_ Only Harley-Davidson would dare to change near perfection and Harley-Davidson stylists have worked with great care to update the Heritage Softail Classic. Taller handlebars and a "cat's eye" console are just two of the new features on this popular and nostalgic custom touring motorcycle.
_ The Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) crew turns its inspiration loose on two new limited production models for 2009, the CVO Fat Bob and the CVO Road Glide, each powered by the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine and turned out in bright chrome, big paint and wild new accessories. The CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide and CVO Softail Springer make an encore appearance in 2009.
