FEATURE – 2022 Indian Scout Bobber
Blacked out, stripped off, slammed down and styled up, the Scout Bobber takes the Scout and adds a bunch of special cosmetic touches, lowers the rear suspension travel and loses some weight.
There are no mechanical of spec changes to the Scout Bobber for 2022m, but there are new colours and additions to the accessories range.
Tipping the scales at 252kg wet, the Scout Bobber is 4kg lighter than the standard Scout, but the rear suspension changes only shave 1mm off the seat height to 649mm.
The “bobber” name comes with certain expectations style-wise and the Scout Bobber doesn’t disappoint on that front. Both front and rear mudguards are heavily docked and lose the valancing of the base Scout. That means a different tail light and repositioning of the rear indicators and number plate carrier.
A two-tone solo saddle is standard and the handlebars are lower and flatter on the Scout Bobber than the base model, with the mirrors changed to bar-end type, too.
A headlight nacelle further separates the Scout Bobber from the Scout and accentuates its hunched-down look. This nacelle and the fork uppers get the blackout treatment, as do the indicator shells, engine covers, mufflers and horn cover, with a modicum of chrome remaining on the engine’s top end and headers.
Wheels are still 16-inch front and rear, but are of a different design to the Scout and only available in black, regardless of what paint option you choose.
Speaking of paint, the Scout Bobber has had a similar cull to the base model, from eight down to six but there are some new options for 2022.
The palette starts with Black metallic and the satin finish Black Smoke, which are more or less the same as the Thunder Black options from last year. Maroon Metallic Smoke and Alumina Jade Smoke carry over from 2021, with the new additions being Titanium metallic and Indy Red; both with black headlight nacelles, but the latter adds a contrasting black tank panel. Indy Red is also the only Icon paint series offering on any Scout for 2022.
Australian pricing for the 2022 Scout Bobber starts from $20,495 ($21,995 ride away).
