FEATURE – 2022 Indian Scout
The original and, to many, still the best, the Scout for 2022 is mostly unchanged from last year’s model, with changes confined to new paint options and additions to the accessories catalogue.
This year’s Scout is still defined by its stylish fuel tank and valanced mudguards front and rear, as well as the abundance of chrome engine detailing and that bold, all-chrome exhaust system.
Chrome on the handlebars, headlight and gauge trim rings, levers, mirrors and indicator shells keep the brightwork going, as does the contrast cut finish on the 16-inch alloys.
The base Scout is also the only one in the 2022 range that comes with a two-up seat and pillion pegs as standard. There’s no mention of whether that seat is still trimmed in leather as it was last year, but assume it is.
The Scout still rolls on Pirelli Night Dragon tyres and all the mechanical spec from last year’s model carries over, with changes for 2022 limited to a few new accessory options and new colours.
The accessories include a new two-up seat design, piggyback rear shocks and a separate revcounter.
In terms of the colour palette for the base Scout, offerings have been trimmed dramatically compared to 2021 – from seven to three. All the two-tone ‘Icon’ series options are gone and the standard Thunder Black has been replaced with Black metallic, but it’s essentially the same colour.
The two new colour options for 2022 are Maroon metallic and two-tone Silver Quartz metallic and Black.
Maroon metallic comes with the same tank badging as the black option, but a tan seat is standard.
The Silver Quartz metallic is a pale gold satin finish that adds contrasting black to the mudguards and fuel tank. This option also swaps the Indian script tank badge for an Indian head decal.
Australian pricing for the 2022 Scout starts from $21,495 ($22,995 ride away).
