Ducati release new-look SuperSport 950 S
Ducati have revealed a new colour scheme for their entry-level SuperSport 950 S sportsbike. The new livery hit European dealerships in June and is expected to reach Australia later this year, with local orders open now.
The new ‘Stripe Livery’ is broadly similar to the previous Arctic White Silk colour scheme and will be offered as an option to the traditional Ducati Red for the 950 S.
On an Iceberg White base, the Stripe Livery adds coloured bands in grey and Ducati Red, running from the front mudguard and onto the fairing, with the upper Ducati Red stripe lining up with the SuperSport 950 S’s red trellis frame. The upper red band also carries the ‘Supersport’ name, while the grey band carries ‘950 S’ identification.
Other styling touches that visually define the 950 S against the regular SuperSport 950, like the pillion seat cover, bare metal lowers for the forks and gloss black wheels with “tags” in Ducati Red, are unchanged and will apply to both colour options for the upper spec model. Design elements, like headlights inspired by the Panigale V4, are unchanged, too.
The upcoming SuperSport 950 S with the Stripe Livery is powered by the Testastretta 937cc twin, producing 81kW (110hp) at 9000rpm and 93Nm (69lb/ft) at 6500rpm. This Desmodromic, liquid-cooled engine is matched to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and Ducati Quick Shift up/down quickshifter.
Being the 950 S, suspension is upgraded from the Marzocchi/Sachs combination on the 950 to fully-adjustable Öhlins units front and rear.
Other standard features include light alloy 17-inch wheels, Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres, Brembo brakes and Bosch Cornering ABS, full colour 4.3-inch TFT instrumentation, the Ducati Multimedia System, selectable power modes and riding modes, Ducati Traction Control EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control EVO, anti-theft system, 16-litre fuel tank and 810mm seat height.
Against the $21,900 ride away price for the SuperSport 950, the Öhlins equipment on the SuperSport 950 S is the main reason for its higher price tag of $24,500 ride away.
