Dates confirmed for Australian round of MXGP
After securing a slot on the 2025 FIM MXGP calendar several months back, the dates for next year’s Australian round have now been confirmed. The first Australian Motocross Grand Prix since 2001 will be held in Darwin on 19-21 September, with limited-edition three-day 'Hot Pass' tickets now available.
The Australian round will serve as the season finale for 2025, with MXGP and MX2 categories racing, as well as the FIM Women’s World Motocross Championship (WMX) and local support classes. A purpose-built track within Darwin’s Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex will be constructed for the event.
“It is very exciting to have the 2025 dates for the MXGP of Australia locked in, as the anticipation is building for this exclusive event,” said Northern Territory Major Events Company Acting CEO Trevor Cox.
“Planning for the spectacle is well underway and it is a real coup for Darwin to be the home of the MXGP round in Australia for at least the next five years.
“We expect thousands of fans from across Australia and a strong international presence, making Darwin the vibrant hub of world motocross. We are ready for the world to come check this out in September, 2025.”
Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle added: “Motorcycling Australia is delighted the FIM Motocross World Championship is returning Down Under after a multi-decade absence, in addition to hosting the FIM Women’s World Motocross Championship for the first time.
“We look forward to working alongside the NT Major Events Company and Infront Racing to produce a brilliant spectacle. And with the Aussie wildcards taking on the world’s best, as well as some spectacular support classes, it’s going to be an event not to be missed.”
The three-day Hot Pass provides access to the heart of the action - including a complimentary Paddock Pass to see riders and machines up close - for $150. Future ticket releases won’t include this access, so fans are advised to purchase their Hot Pass before it’s too late.
