CFMoto releases ZFORCE 1000 Sport R
CFMoto have added to their Australian Side-by-Side range with the arrival of the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R that’s larger, more powerful and more sports-focussed than the ZFORCE 1000 Sport it’s based on.
At 1,626mm wide, the Sport R is 102mm wider than the Sport and also features a longer wheelbase (2,285mm v 2,040mm), while larger 29-inch tyres (27-inch on the Sport) contribute to an increase in ground clearance, at 340mm compared to the Sport’s 310mm. The Sport’s 14-inch wheels are upgraded to beadlock units on the Sport R to facilitate running at lower tyre pressures.
As part of what CFMoto call new dynamic suspension, travel on the Sport R increases significantly to 340mm at the front and 395mm at the rear, with a sway bar added at each end, too, but the basic configuration of the suspension is unchanged, with a dual A-arm independent front and multi-link rear.
The other key change with the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R is more power. Capacity of the liquid-cooled v-twin remains unchanged at 963cc, but maximum power has increased from 80hp (59.6kW) in the Sport to 90hp (67kW) in the Sport R thanks to cylinder head, intake and exhaust changes. Maximum torque is unchanged at 87Nm.
Other mechanical elements, like the CVT transmission, selectable 2WD/4WD drive, locking front diff, limited slip rear diff, electronic power steering and hydraulic disc brakes, carry over from the Sport unchanged,
The increased power in the Sport R is somewhat offset by its increased weight, tipping the scales at 705kg compared to the Sport’s 680kg. Towing and cargo capacities remain unchanged at 400kg and 100kg, respectively, as does the 36.5-litre fuel capacity.
In the cockpit of the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R, there’s a new 5.0-inch TFT instrument screen for the driver, which offers ‘Sport’ and ‘Normal’ display modes. A flat-bottom steering wheel and racing-style switches are new additions, with the Sport R also offering smartphone connectivity with the CFMoto RIDE app.
The 2-seat configuration of the Sport remains, but the seats in the Sport R provide more back support, with slide rails underneath for easier fore and aft adjustment. An adjustable passenger handlebar is another new feature.
A roof panel, protection bar and 3,500lb winch with nylon cable are standard, which CFMoto claim makes the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R unique in its market segment. A range of optional accessories are also available, including windshields, half doors, cargo boxes and LED light bars.
Available colours on the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R include Royal Blue and Nebula Black, accented with yellow graphics and beadlocks on the former and orange on the latter.
Priced at $21,490 drive away, the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R is a $2,000 premium over the Sport and is backed by CFMoto’s 12-month warranty.
