Boom Trike Power!
Exquisite craftsmanship separates Boom from the rest. It's not often that you are blown away by the sheer quality of finish and craftsmanship displayed in any vehicle, let alone a 'humble' trike, but such was the case when I first set eyes onthe European designed and manufactured BOOM Trike in Germany.
BOOM was founded in 1990 in Sontheim, Germany by Wolfgang and Christine Merkle, and became BOOM Trikes in 1998. The company specialises in the development and sales of technical products, and in particular special vehicles. It focuses on developing, manufacturing and marketing motorised three-wheeled trikes and light four wheeled vehicles.
The company offers self-developed Trikes in seven series including, 'Fun', 'Muscle Trike', 'V2', 'Chopper', 'Low Rider', 'Family', 'Fighter', and 'Roadster' and 'Power Smart'.
The BOOM Trikes feature outstanding and attractive design, fully developed and packed with the latest technology. They offer extensive customisation and export to many countries, including Australia. The trikes are built using vehicle construction techniques, from traditional steel or aluminium frames. Engines are sourced from VW-Mexico, Piaggio, Ford and Peugeot. All axles, frames, forks, cable harness and special parts are produced in house by BOOM. Similarly, the outer skin is manufactured and painted locally.
Other components, such as brakes, electrical equipment and tyres are sourced from leading European automotive suppliers.
Engines produce between 29 - 127kW power and there are seats for 1-3. The trike is supplied either as a complete vehicle or as a kit. Many of the trikes feature waterproof and removable topcases, aluminium chassis and wheels, wide tyres, front and rear disc brakes, handbrake stop, extensive stainless steel configuration, and a patented front fork.
BOOM Trikes are obviously doing something right, becoming Europe's leading trike maker in 2007. Since then every second trike sold in Europe is a BOOM. There are over 9,000 BOOM Trikes on the road.
