FOR SALE Genuine Australian Delivered 1976 Z1 900 A4 Here is an Opportunity to acquire one of the all-time classic Japanese Superbikes, the Australian delivered 1976 Z1 900 A4. ( Not to be confused with the American KZ 900 ) In the early 70’s the race was on to develop the first Japanese 4 Stroke Superbike. Kawasaki had dominated the market since 1969 with their 2 Stroke Triples, but emission laws were starting to bite, and the pressure was on to develop a 4 Stroke Superbike. Both Honda and Kawasaki were in a race to launch the first 4-cylinder 4 Stroke Superbike, however Honda released theirs first. Not to be outdone Kawasaki decided to halt their 750 development and trump Honda and make a bigger Twin Overhead Cam 900cc version. Whilst this was occurring Kawasaki decided to launch the legendary 750cc Triple called the H2. ( Windowmaker ) blowing the Honda into the weeds. In 1973 Kawasaki then launched their magnificent Z1 900, nicknamed ( The Jaffa ) This was the first iteration of this legendary bike, several models followed coming to a head with the 1976 Kawasaki Z1 900 A4, before they moved to the Z 1000. The bike I have for sale is the last Z 900 Model made, a genuine Australian delivered 1976 Z1 900 A4 ( Not to be confused with the American KZ 900 ) Engine number (Z1E-108779) and Frame number (Z1F-099793) and is fitted with the standard Australian delivered Twin Front Disk brakes and the Optional Hazard Lights. The bike has undergone a “No Expenses Spared” full “Nut and Bolt” restoration and is essentially a “Brand New” Bike, every single Gasket / Seal and Bearing in this bike has been replaced, every other part has either been Painted / Power Coated / Painted / Chromed / Polished or Replaced, with the exception of the Crankshaft and Conrods which remain untouched and in sound working order. Engine The Head and Block was removed inhouse and Vapour Blasted by Serco Brisbane. New Sleeves ( Z 1000 ) fitted and honed by Serco Brisbane and new UK sourced 70.5mm x 60.0mm oversize Pistons & Rings were fitted increasing capacity to 1030cc’s. Carbies were stripped and were cleaned in house, then all parts replaced in including Gaskets, jets seats etc. Engine then reassembled all seals Bearings Seals as required. Then Japanese Imported "Doremi" Exhaust exact replica exhaust pipes fitted. • NOTE Bottom end ( Crank and rods etc are original ) Frame and Fittings. Frame completely stripped and re painted. All other Black parts including the Battery Box Headlight Shell, Swing arm etc etc were either Powder coated or Painted Satin Black. Seat has been re-upholstered by with a new reproduction cover. All chrome parts removed and then re chromed or replaced, including new Kick Starter and Gear Lever. New Rear shock absorbers have been fitted. All Nuts / Bolts and Washers replaced with either the original ones (refurbished) or new 304 or 316 SS parts Both Triple Trees have been fitted with new Bearings New Headlight, Taillight and all Indicators re fitted. New Badges fitted all round ( Kawasaki and Z 900 ) New rubber mounted Mirrors have been fitted New Tank was fitted New Ducktail was fitted Wheels Front Rim was re-chromed, and new 304 SS Spokes fitted Rear Rim has new 304 SS Spokes fitted Both Wheels have been fitted with new Wheel Bearings Paintwork Tank / Side Covers and Ducktail stripped back and repainted to match the original “Diamond Green” with new Pinstripes from the UK, and a Clear Coat on top to seal it. NOTE a Brand-New Tank was fitted due to rust depots forming in the old unit. Electric’s. A completely new Harness has been fitted, a new Stator has also been fitted, the Rectifier and Regulator have been replaced with a new Combined unit. New Coils, Plug Leads and Plugs have also been fitted. New Points and Condensers have been fitted, as well as a new Points Harness. A New Battery has also been fitted and comes with a Trickle Charger and connection. New Earth Leads and Battery Leads have been fitted, as well as new indicator Relay. All Switchgear have been replaced and is brand new units. Summary every single wire and associated part has been replaced. Brakes The rear Brake linings have been replaced, and the front Calliper has been completely rebuilt and resprayed and new Pads / Pistons and Seals fitted. New Lower and Upper Brake lines have been fitted as well as a new Aftermarket Master cylinder fitted. New Rear “Cush Drive Rubbers” have been fitted along with new locking tabs and bolts. Other Notations • Original Airbox + new Filters fitted. • Speedo is in MPH, both Speedo and Tacho are original ND units • The Handlebars have been replaced with a lower 2” rise unit • The Exhaust pipes are Japanese "Doremi" Exhaust replica exhaust pipes. • New Centre Stand and Side Stand fitted. Summary This bike has been meticulously rebuilt from ground up by a passionate collector of Kawasaki Triples. The bike Looks / Feels and Rides like a brand new Z1 900, in fact many of the components are better that the original bike i.e. (Powder coating vs Painting / Stainless Steel vs Zinc Plating etc). Every part has either been Powder coated, Re Chromed, repainted or replaced to bring her back to new.
