Seller's Description
1964 rare vintage bike which has been carefully restored from the ground up.. Matching engine and frame numbers. The engine has been completely renewed bored and provided with new super blend bearings, new carburetors, (Norvil) and has replacement push rods and valves. It has not yet been run in and will require the usual attention after running. The professional engineer is available for an opinion and details of the rebuild. The speedometer registers 2 km. The mufflers and pipes are new and as are the brakes battery and tires.Front forks have been checked. hard chromed and reground. The magneto has been overhauled and provided with a reliable electronic controller. The frame has been powder coated and the tank and side plates have been professionally restored in the original candy apple red. As far as possible the parts used have been resourced from retailers who provide spares close to the original e.g. Norvil and Walbridge Motors. The latter is a great source of information about these early Nortons and can be contacted. The bikes were made for the US market and were named the ‘Desert Sled’ for reasons unknown to me, but I am told, were used for desert racing as they had the power and the very sturdy frame necessary to absorb rough terrain. There are many other improvements and renewals and will be detailed to potential buyers. For those interested from interstate I am more than willing to discuss sharing transport costs for packaging and shipping.
